EventMe is built on truth, integrity, and respect for every person who uses this platform. We do not sell your data. We do not share it without your knowledge. We collect only what is necessary to deliver a safe, high-quality experience.

1. What we collect

When you register: your first name, surname, email address, country, gender, and age. These fields are required to create an account. When you submit an event or nomination: the content you provide (title, description, photos, contact details). When you use the contact form: your name, email, and message. We also collect basic usage data (page views, likes) to improve the platform.

2. Why we collect it

Your account details are used to authenticate you and link your submissions to your profile. Your gender and age help us understand our community and ensure that content and communications are appropriate this information is never displayed publicly or shared with third parties. Contact details on events are displayed publicly only if you choose to provide them. We use your email to verify your account, notify you when your event or nomination is approved or rejected, and for password recovery.

3. How we protect it

Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. Email addresses are verified before account activation. All data is stored in a secured PostgreSQL database. Images are hosted on Cloudinary with authenticated access unauthenticated uploads are rejected by the server. We use JWT tokens with expiry for authentication no passwords are kept in browser storage.

4. Your rights & control

You may update your gender, age, profile photo, and avatar colour at any time from the Edit Profile section. You may withdraw any event or talent nomination you submitted at any time through your submissions dashboard. You may contact us at any time to request deletion of your account and all associated data. We will action such requests within 7 business days.

5. Third-party services

We use Cloudinary for image hosting and Gmail SMTP for transactional emails. Neither service receives your password or financial information. No advertising networks or tracking pixels are used on this platform.

6. Content standards

All events and nominations are reviewed by our admin team before going public. We publish only verified, truthful, and respectful content. Submissions containing false information, hate speech, or content that does not represent African excellence will be rejected. We are committed to integrity in everything we publish.
